Bedford and Forsyth Education Centres

2019-20 School Year

Good evening BFEC students and families,

Our teachers and staff at BFEC are missing our students and hope you are well.

Teachers and students have been teaching and learning from home. An interim grade will be available to students and parents/guardians on May 14, 2020 through PowerSchool.  This mark will represent a baseline grade for the students’ courses in Quarter 4.  Students will continue to work with teachers to improve this grade before the end of the school year.

On Friday May 8, Premier Stephen MacNeil announced that students, Pre-Primary to 12, will not return to the classroom this year and that formal learning at home will end on Friday, June 5, 2020.

What does this mean for students and families?

·         To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, all public schools remain closed for the 2019-2020 school year.

·         At-home learning continues for students until June 5.  Assessment of student learning will continue after this date.

Many of you have reached out to ask when your child’s personal items can be retrieved from schools. At this time, schools are not accessible. When it’s possible to access schools safely, we will let you know.

Staff at BFEC want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this incredible (and unprecedented) challenge. We recognize the times have been very challenging for families and we continue to  that stress the need to focus on the well-being of yourself and your family.

Learning-at-home is meant to offer opportunities to learn during a pandemic, not to replicate school. If you find that it’s too much for your family, please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal.

Please do not hesitate to contact your teachers or staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay well,

Cathy Burton

BFEC Principal
