1. Where is your school?
BFEC, Bedford and Forsyth Education Centres has two campuses.

2. What is your school schedule?
We offer two courses each quarter:
- Quarter 1: September to Mid November
- Quarter 2: Mid November to End of January
- Quarter 3: February to Mid April
- Quarter 4: Mid April to End of June
The schedule runs:
- Morning class: 9:40-12:05
- Afternoon class: 12:45-3:10
3. Can I take one course at a time?
Students may enroll in one or two courses at a time.
4. How many credits do I need to graduate?
Students require a minimum of 18 credits to earn a NS High School Diploma. Please speak with your school counselor to review your progress towards meeting graduation. You may click here to see the course requirements in Nova Scotia, including the compulsory credits.
5. What is the Adult Diploma?
The adult diploma is available for Canadian citizens or permanent residents or protected persons that are 18 years and older not currently in school and that are proficient in speaking and listening in English. Students require 12 credits at the grade 11 and 12 level to earn the NS Adult High School Diploma. You may click here to see the course requirements in Nova Scotia, including the compulsory credits.
6. How many credits can I earn in a year?
Students can enroll in 8 courses during a school year at BFEC. There may be an opportunity to earn more if you are eligible for credit recovery.
7. What is Credit Recovery?
When a student earned a failing grade of approximately 40% in a course, a student may be offered credit recovery to demonstrate enough outcomes to earn a 50% on the course. 50% is the highest grade that can be earned when completing a credit through credit recovery. Students who complete CR are assigned to an Academic Support Block (students should expect to spend
roughly 1 hour for each percentage point needed to get to 50%).
8. Does BFEC have bussing services?
BFEC does not have bussing services. Students registering with BFEC must make arrangements for Transportation.
9. I already graduated from high school, but I would like to upgrade my courses, can I enroll at your school?
Returning grads may register if there is room in the desired course. Returning grads are often put on a waiting list until all students who have not yet graduated are registered.
10. Is there a fee to enroll in a course at your school?
Students who have not yet completed a high school diploma may enroll in courses for free. Returning grads under 21 may also enroll for free. Returning grads over 21 may take two courses for free, additional courses for returning grads are $295/course.
11. Do you offer online courses?
No, our teaching and learning happens in person. Students must be present to demonstrate their understanding of course outcomes.
